Regulators in Poland have recently initiated a case against OpenAI, a leading artificial intelligence company, over claims of mishandling user data. The Personal Data Protection Office in Poland confirmed that it is considering a complaint filed by an individual regarding OpenAI’s widely-used ChatGPT app. The complainant alleges that OpenAI has been handling data in an “unlawful and unreliable manner” while lacking transparency.

According to the individual, ChatGPT provided inaccurate information in response to a query and failed to rectify it upon request. Outside of the European Union, Japanese regulators cautioned OpenAI against collecting sensitive personal data in violation of local laws in June. Additionally, Canadian regulators began an investigation of OpenAI and ChatGPT in May.
