Sorare, the popular French fantasy sports game, is generating significant buzz ahead of the upcoming NBA season. The company has recently revealed plans for five NFT auctions featuring Special Edition NBA Draft Cards. The first auction, which took place on July 9, 2023, showcased the NFT card of Victor Wembanyama from the San Antonio Spurs. At just 19 years old, Wembanyama has already made a name for himself, impressing audiences with his performances in the French professional league. In fact, he was awarded the title of 2023 league MVP, top scorer, and defender of the year.

Coming up next are card auctions for Brandon Miller (Charlotte Hornets), Scoot Henderson (Portland Trail Blazers), Amen Thompson (Houston Rockets), and Ausar Thompson (Detroit Pistons). These Special Edition cards, each featuring a Rookie badge, will be part of the rare cards pool for the 2023-2024 season. What sets these NBA Draft Special Edition cards apart is the 10% XP bonus they offer throughout the upcoming season.

Sorare’s Second Season as the Official NFT Fantasy Partner of the NBA and NBPA

These NBA Draft Special Edition NFT cards hold a special place in history as the very first licensed digital collectibles of the top 5 picks at the National Basketball Association draft. The auctions also mark the beginning of Sorare’s second season as the Official NFT Fantasy Partner of the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA).

In the previous season, Jalen Williams from the Oklahoma City Thunder earned the most Sorare points as a rookie, with a total of 1328. Wembanyama and his fellow rookies will strive to surpass this benchmark. In terms of popularity, the top three positions were secured by Nic Claxton (Brooklyn Nets), Luka Dončić (Dallas Mavericks), and Giannīs Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks).

Nicolas Julia, CEO and co-founder of Sorare, expressed his excitement about the upcoming season: “As a French NBA fan, I followed this year’s draft with great interest. It’s been an exciting start to what should be another great season in the NBA – the second during which we’ve been proud partners. As part of our partnership with the NBA, we’re delighted to launch new Special Edition Rare cards of the top 5 draft pick players ahead of the coming 2023-24 season.”

Sorare was established in Paris in 2018 by Nicolas Julia and Adrien Montfort with the intention of connecting sports enthusiasts worldwide with their favorite players, teams, and leagues. The company has formed partnerships with 300 organizations and clubs across various leagues and has already achieved success with its NFT-based football game, revolutionizing fan engagement. With collaborations with the English Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, and Serie A, Sorare transforms each player into a unique digital collectible, minted as an NFT on the Ethereum blockchain.

These cards, like traditional football trading cards, possess a sense of uniqueness and scarcity, adding to the thrill of buying, selling, or trading them. However, Sorare takes the experience a step further by allowing users to build their fantasy squads using these cards, paving the way for intense competition in a variety of matches and tournaments.
