Keisha Lance Bottoms, set to become Joe Biden’s senior campaign adviser, recently shared her views on the bipartisan nature of crypto. She emphasized that crypto is not a political issue and has garnered support from both sides of the political spectrum. According to Bottoms, crypto has managed to capture the attention of voters nationwide, highlighting its significance in today’s financial landscape.

During a speech at Crypto Votes Atlanta, Bottoms underscored the role of crypto and blockchain in revolutionizing the financial system. She particularly noted how these technologies are empowering Black-owned businesses in Atlanta, emphasizing the importance of financial inclusion. Bottoms aims to address the challenges faced by communities of color who are disproportionately unbanked or underbanked in the United States.

Bottoms also discussed the need for regulation in the crypto industry, especially in ensuring fairness and accessibility for all communities. She stressed the importance of keeping bad actors out of the industry to maintain its credibility and reputation. Her insights come in the wake of her involvement in understanding the crypto sector following a ransomware attack on Fulton County in 2024.

Reports indicate that Bottoms will transition to a senior adviser role in Joe Biden’s presidential campaign. She has been actively involved in the crypto space, serving on Coinbase’s Global Advisory Council since April. Despite her new role in the Biden campaign, Bottoms is expected to continue her work with Coinbase, showcasing her commitment to the crypto industry.

Prior to her upcoming position as a senior campaign adviser, Bottoms held various roles, including Director of the Office of Public Engagement in the Biden administration from July 2022 to 2023. She also served as Atlanta’s mayor from 2018 to 2022, showcasing her experience in public service and governance. With a background in both politics and the crypto industry, Bottoms brings a unique perspective to the intersection of technology and policy.

Keisha Lance Bottoms’ insights shed light on the transformative potential of crypto and blockchain in fostering financial inclusion and empowering marginalized communities. As she takes on her new role as Joe Biden’s senior campaign adviser, Bottoms’ expertise and experience will undoubtedly shape the conversation around regulation, industry integrity, and diversity in the financial sector.
