SBI Holdings, a well-known financial services company based in Tokyo, Japan, has recently revealed its plans to introduce an NFT minting service on the XRP Ledger for the upcoming World Expo 2025. This initiative is part of the larger ‘EXPO 2025 Digital Wallet’ project, which aims to provide a digital wallet app service connected to the Expo.

The ‘MYAKU-N!’ Service

The NFT minting service, named ‘Myaku N!’, will be accessible through the EXPO 2025 Digital Wallet offered at the Expo in Osaka/Kansai. Interested users can download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to receive complimentary NFTs. However, the exclusivity factor comes into play as the service is limited to only 500 users.

In an effort to integrate blockchain technology into mainstream events, SBI Holdings will mint 920 XRPL-based NFTs for the World Expo 2025. These NFTs are part of the ‘MYAKU-N!’ project, which offers attendees unique digital collectibles. Participants can earn and collect NFTs by participating in various Expo activities both in the physical realm and online via the ‘MyakuMyaku Reward Program.’

The NFTs are accessible through MYAKU-N! digital wallets and are commemorative in nature, meaning they cannot be transferred or sold. Participants can enhance their positions by charging ‘Myakupe!’ – the electronic money of the Expo, and engaging in other event interactions. The service, commencing on July 1, allows users to collect original NFTs from the EXPO 2025 Digital Wallet and even create their NFTs by uploading selected images, catering to users new to the NFT space.

The aim of the service is to accommodate the 28.2 million visitors expected at the Expo. NFTs will be viewable in real-time using the NFT explorer Bithomp but will cease to be visible after October 13, 2025, upon the shutdown of the EXPO 2025 Digital Wallet. Additionally, the initiative encompasses extra benefits, lucky draws, and prizes through the ‘Myakumyakupon!’ gift campaign to further engage users and offer opportunities to acquire rare NFTs.

Implications for the Industry

The focus of the SBI Group on XRP and NFTs underscores the potential of these crypto-related technologies to revolutionize the industry. The collaboration between Ripple Partner SBI and the launch of NFTs on the XRP Ledger for the 2025 World Expo in Japan underlines their dedication to introducing the Myaku N! NFT service. Ultimately, this NFT initiative serves as a trailblazer for employing blockchain technology in mainstream events, demonstrating the innovative uses of digital assets.
